![]() ![]() Knowing the bulb-color they were looking for was unique, Curtis looked to Roth Lighting to create a solution. Recently, Roth Lighting was involved in a special project for Harrah’s Hotel & Casino (Owned by Vici Properties and operated by Caesars Entertainment). Sitting on 17 acres in the heart of the Las Vegas strip, Harrah’s wanted to update the incandescent bulbs used on their iconic Mardi gras-themed front entrance. Curtis Saunders at NEDCO Supply, a Las Vegas Electrical Distributor, was asked to source the bulbs. Offering better resolution, bigger screens, and brighter displays, LED bulbs have replaced not only neon, but fluorescent and incandescent bulbs utilized at many Las Vegas Casinos. Today, the use of neon is a nostalgic memory as it is systematically replaced with LED technology. Since the 1940’s, Las Vegas was known for its luminous signage where neon loomed over the desert below. The result is a dome that joins the sky overhead in a seamless transition. Glass panels were economized by making the geometry into rectangles instead of triangles. By using the glass structurally, Novum completely eliminated a layer of heavy aluminium mullions. ![]() Concentric triangular trussing is located at the base, midway and at the top of the dome. To provide the most transparent solution, Novum developed a single layer dome with lightweight trussing as structural reinforcement. Harrahs vision of a hotel addition that would include a naturally lit pool area became a reality through Novum engineering. Type of works: design, manufacture and installation of a glass dome roof.
